Our client, a leading organisation in the tech industry, is seeking a Policy Specialist to join their dynamic Case Review Team. As part of this team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate, consistent, and independent resolution of user disputes through the expert application of content policies and the client’s Normative Framework.

Our client aims to provide users with an independent mechanism to dispute social media platform's content moderation decisions. They are dedicated to ensuring that content policies are upheld while offering a fair and consistent approach.

Key Responsibilities:

- Content Review – Escalation Support: You'll be reviewing and moderating user appeals of content moderation decisions, including text, images, videos, and comments. Your expertise will be vital in assessing content for policy violations such as hate speech and harassment.

- Policy Enforcement: You'll assess escalated disputes to ensure consistency with relevant policies, taking into account the platform's values and principles, as well as fundamental rights standards.

- Policy Research: Keep yourself updated on platform policies, regulations, and current events that may impact policy enforcement. Your insights will be crucial in maintaining review standards.

- Process Improvement: Share your feedback on the case decision-making process, escalate criteria enforcement, and reviewer guidelines to continuously enhance operations.

- Data Analysis: Dive into policy-related case data to evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and identify areas for improvement.

- Quality Management & Reporting: Contribute to team-wide training by identifying representative policy edge cases. You'll also provide coaching and hands-on training to junior resources, ensuring adherence to policy guidelines and standards.

- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure efficient and high-quality content review, including partnerships with quality management, policy and market specialists, product and technology teams.

Requirements:

  • A degree at the master's level is preferred, with specialisation or a strong interest in human rights, legal issues, or technology.
  • Professional experience, with expertise in writing and/or operationalizing content policies or supporting trust and safety operations on social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply policy and market context to deliver quality content moderation outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of content policy problems, including those related to fundamental rights, within technology and user-generated content platforms.
  • Knowledge of fundamental rights standards and experience developing and implementing a Normative Framework for content decisions.
  • Familiarity with internet laws and policy regulations, particularly the Digital Services Act.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other European language (German, French, Spanish, Italian, or Dutch).
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience providing coaching and training to reviewers to enhance content review quality.
  • Ability to break down processes, provide feedback, and contribute to improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Must possess a flexible mindset and adaptability to handle changing systems, policies, and workflow.
  • Ability to exhibit grace under pressure and thrive in a fast-moving environment.
